Delete your PlayRoute account

Effective: September 28, 2026·Last revised: October 1, 2026

1. About this page

This page explains how to delete your account in the PlayRoute running app (developer: Ilkyum Kim) and the data stored with it, and how to delete some of your data while keeping your account. It applies to PlayRoute for iPhone and Apple Watch and to PlayRoute for Android phones and Wear OS watches.

PlayRoute can be used without signing up. When you first open the app, an anonymous device account is created with a random identifier generated on your device; device accounts in the iPhone app and the Android app are separate and are not linked to each other. If you have used both, please delete each one. If you wish, you can also sign up with an email address under Profile and log in with an email account; deleting an email account on any device deletes that account and all its records.

The Korean version of this page is authoritative. If a translation differs from it, the Korean version prevails.

2. Delete your account in the app

If the app is installed, you can delete your account right in the app. The steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

  1. 1.Tap the “Profile” tab in the tab bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. 2.Scroll all the way down and tap “Delete account” in red, set apart at the bottom of the screen.
  3. 3.In the “Delete your account?” window, tap “Delete”.
  4. 4.When “Account deleted” appears, you are done. If the app cannot reach the server, nothing is deleted and you will see “Couldn't delete”. Check your internet connection and tap “Try again”.

The Apple Watch and Wear OS watch apps do not have a delete account option. When you delete your account on your phone, the watch is notified and discards the results of runs that ended before the deletion.

If you delete while logged in to an email account, that email account is deleted, and the records kept aside on this device from before you logged in are not erased and show again. To erase those records too, delete once more in the same way. If your login has expired, “Please log in again” appears; log in again and then delete.

3. Request deletion without the app

If you have already deleted the app or cannot use it, you can request deletion by email without reinstalling the app.

  • ·Send to: admin@playmong.com
  • ·Subject: PlayRoute account deletion request
  • ·Please include: the nickname shown in the app, the approximate date you last used the app, and the device you used (iPhone or Android). If you use an email account, please send the request from the email address you signed up with.

For an email account, if the request comes from the email address you signed up with, we find the account by that address. A device account is not created with an email address, so we find it using the nickname and date you give us. To make sure no one else deletes your account, we may ask for details only the account owner would know (for example, the date and distance of a recent run) before deleting anything. After verifying that the request comes from you, we will delete your account and all data stored on the server without delay and no later than 30 days after receiving your request, and let you know the result by email. If we cannot find your account, we may ask you for more details to identify it.

A request by email deletes the information stored on the server. For information that remains on your phone, see section 6.

4. What is deleted

When you delete your account, the following information is permanently deleted from the server and cannot be restored.

  • ·Device account: the random identifier created by the app, your nickname, country, language, and distance unit
  • ·Email account (if you signed up): email address, password (an irreversibly transformed value), whether records were merged, verification code sending records
  • ·All runs you uploaded to the server: routes (latitude, longitude, altitude, and the time at each point), distance, running time, start and end times, and the courses you followed and whether you completed them
  • ·All courses you saved (including courses published to other users): name, description, distance, and route. They are no longer visible to other users.
  • ·Ranking records: rankings are calculated from the runs on the server, so you are removed from the rankings for every period along with your runs.

When you delete your account in the app, the following information on that device is erased along with the information on the server.

  • ·iPhone: the runs and courses stored in the app, the copies kept in the keychain, records not yet uploaded, recovery copies kept in case the app closes unexpectedly, Apple Watch run results waiting on the iPhone, your personal settings (nickname, weight, and values read from the Health app), and the email account login information
  • ·Android: the runs and courses stored in the app, records not yet uploaded, recovery copies kept in case the app closes unexpectedly, Wear OS run results waiting on the phone, your personal settings (nickname, weight, and values read from Health Connect), and the account identifier and credentials kept in the app's storage and Block Store (including the email account login information)
  • ·Health Connect on Android: all workouts PlayRoute saved to Health Connect (runs recorded with a Wear OS watch) are deleted. Records saved by other apps are not touched.

5. What remains after deletion

  • ·Records from before you logged in: if you delete while logged in to an email account, the records kept aside on this device from before you logged in and their device account are not erased and show again. To erase them too, delete your account once more.
  • ·Workouts in the Apple Health app: workouts and heart rate that Apple Watch saved to the Apple Health app are not deleted. You can delete them yourself in the Health app.
  • ·Records that could not be deleted because Health Connect permissions were turned off: you can delete them yourself in Health Connect.
  • ·Device settings: settings such as distance units, sounds and voice guidance, auto-pause, and checkpoint and sprint alerts remain on the device.
  • ·Server access logs (access time, IP address, device and operating system information): kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
  • ·Information that the law requires us to keep is stored separately for the required period.

If you keep using the app after deleting your account, a new device account is created, and the records of the deleted account are not carried over.

6. Deleting the app does not delete your account

Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your accounts (device account and email account), runs, or published courses on the server. You can keep using an email account by reinstalling the app and logging in. To delete your account, delete it in the app before deleting the app, or make a request as described in section 3.

On iPhone, your account information and records remain in the device's keychain after the app is deleted, and they come back if you reinstall the app on the same device. If you delete the app first, the Service cannot remotely erase what remains in the keychain; it is erased when you reinstall the app and delete your account, or when you reset the device.

On Android, deleting the app erases the records in the app's storage, but the account identifier and credentials kept in Block Store may remain, so reinstalling the app recovers the same account. Records PlayRoute saved to Health Connect also remain, and you can delete them yourself in Health Connect.

7. Delete some data but keep your account

You can also delete some of your data without deleting your account. When you delete a run or course in the app, the run is immediately removed from ranking calculations and the course from public course lists. As described in Section 7 of the Privacy Policy, however, copies of runs and courses deleted in the app may remain on the server until you delete your account. If you change your nickname in the app, your nickname on the server changes too.

To permanently erase specific runs, courses, or your nickname from the server while keeping your account, send us a request by email. This includes the server copies of runs and courses you have already deleted in the app. Runs, courses, and a nickname still in the app may be uploaded to the server again, so if you can use the app, delete them or change your nickname in the app before sending your request.

  • ·Send to: admin@playmong.com
  • ·Subject: PlayRoute data deletion request
  • ·Please include: the nickname shown in the app, the device you used (iPhone or Android), and what to erase (for a run, its date and approximate distance; for a course, its name; for a nickname, the nickname itself). If you use an email account, please send the request from the email address you signed up with.

As with account deletion requests, we may ask for details only the account owner would know (for example, the date and distance of a recent run) before deleting anything. After verifying that the request comes from you, we will permanently erase the data from the server without delay and no later than 30 days after receiving your request, and let you know the result by email. An erased nickname is replaced with a default nickname. Deleted information cannot be restored.
